For the love of Ezyline

You may find it interesting, perhaps even a joy, to know that Ezyline is a small family business operating from home in Sydney.

You can find our brilliant Managing Director Chris, (our wonderful and beloved inventor and amazing Dad), my brother David and myself (Susie) at the family home in Gordon, on the North Shore.  Chris and I share a small office, where we work side by side (quite amicably considering we're related!) whilst David carefully monitors the packaging operations with passion and vigour.

Way back when Ezyline was in the early stages of conception, Chris laboured as a humble tree-cutter in Ku-ring-gai.  Working from sun-up to sun-down climbing trees and dreaming of (and tirelessly working on) the peg-free line for which he won Young ABC Inventors when he was just 18 years old.  Then, in 1967 he had the same passion and belief in the product that we have happily shared with him throughout the years.

The peg free clothesline has always been a part of my life, I've never known a day without it, but back then, it didn't go by  the wonderful name of Ezyline... that name was thought up by one of David's school mates some years back.  Thanks Damien Conoulty!

There was a lot of debate over the name when we were starting out.  Back in the day we would pack the peg-free lines in our lounge room for shows and exhibitions (before the internet ploughed into our lives).  Chris, David and I would gather our friends together - bribed by Pizza in summer and a warm fire in winter - to labour with love at a little Aussie dream.  Dire Straits would play loud enough to herd a thousand cattle into the eye of a needle and we would all work into the night, joining links, folding labels, sealing bags, packing boxes - talk about a labour love, and what fun we had - if only we could dig into the archives of time and produce a film, it would make for a great documentary!  For now though, you'll have to use your imagination.

Some might remember earlier names of Ezyline, dreamt up during those hours filled with laughter and song.  They included (and we still have some of the artwork!) Klingers, Grippit, Nu Line, No Pegs!, Sunline, Adventure Line... You name it, well... we named it (more than once!) - we used it!  In the early days we thought it was all about the name - Tell 'em the name son!  And we like the one we've stuck with.  Believe me, it's like naming the family pet! So now you know the remarkable, original Australian invention, the peg-free clothesline, as Ezyline,.  It fits nicely - we hope you like it too.  Last year we registered our Ezyline logo as a trademark, so it seems she's here to stay.  Many thanks to Rebecca Allen for the beautiful original artwork.

We hope you've been entertained with the next stage of the Ezyline story.  More on 'For the love of Ezyline' to come and you will be notified in our newsletters when it does.  You can always follow our blog to follow updates and we'd love to hear any comments you might have.

Warm regards, The Ezyline Team - Chris, David, Susie and Banjo the Dingo xo

History of Ezyline

Anzac Day, 25th April - and every day, we thank our returned heroes from our hearts - for bringing all of us the freedom we cherish and for helping one small Aussie family carry on their legacy with pride and joy.

Would you believe it if we told you our returned soldiers are the men behind the history of the Ezyline Peg-free clothesline you are familiar with today?

Please read on...

We have a very special story to tell you starting on this day, Wednesday 25 April 2012 - ANZAC DAY, as we remember not only those who have gone before, but those who survived and those who are serving today.

We promised to bring you the history behind Ezyline and it all starts with this important piece of information:

The original wire version of a pegless clothesline was made by returned servicemen.  The men who returned, many injured, made the pegs from wire, bent and twisted in vocational workshops in Australia.  Christopher Rourke, the man who carefully and humbly built on that brilliant idea has carried with him a few pieces of that early version and will bring you an update later on in the day...

Click here for our story, your history

Below is a photograph of the original link for the peg free line which we have adapted with Ezyline.  As you can see, there is an opening for inserting the item and it tapers to a narrow slot to grip the clothing.  These original links were made by hand by our Australian heroes.

We are humbled by the knowledge that we have taken this beautiful piece of ingenuity and are helping to revolutionise the way we hang our laundry in these modern times.  May the legacy continue... more updates on the story will follow.  We treat this history with the utmost respect and love for our soldiers.

Ezyline helps with Arthritis and other mobility difficulties

For those who struggle with clothes pegs or have balance difficulties when hanging out and bringing in the daily wash, the one-handed, comfortable operation of Ezyline is going to be of great benefit.

This link is of interest:  http://www.arthritiseducation.com/site/Learning_Article.html?NewsID_Learning=31

Featured on the Independent Living Centre site and LifeTec display centre in Brisbane, Ezyline has received much recognition and praise from Occupatonal Therapists, Physiotherapists and the general public who have communicated the positive benefits of using Ezyline as a therapeutic alternative to pegs for any who have limited mobility in their fingers, hands and body.

Ezyline can be used by right or left handed operators, simply change the direction of the links to suit.  It's easy to set up - everything required is included with the two metre pack (18 Ezylinks pre-assembled, 2 x 55cm cord, spring and fastener).

Ezyline is 100% Australian made, recyclable, UV-stabilised and guaranteed for five years.

For a limited time, in recognition and support of those with limited mobility, we are offering a special introductory offer.
Your product seems to be a an ingenious invention. One that will help me as a person with a disability, being wheelchair bound, due to my lack of body (& particuarly hand) control. (Julie Ann)

As a person who has had MS for more than half my life, I find the Ezyline to be a true asset to me. I suffer from poor balance and the chore of holding the washing line with one hand and pegs with another has always been a challenge. I am an independent person living at home and Ezyline helps me greatly with the daily chore of washing - it even makes laundry enjoyable. And the service I received when I phoned the 1300 number was amazing. Susie is most friendly and took her time to find out what my needs were and the ordering process was easy with fast delivery. I will be recommending Ezyline to anybody, especially those with limited mobility. (Sheila)

I have been waiting to contact your company and purchase your product for some time now and unfortunately was unable to respond to your advertized deal on WA television last night. As an amputee getting up and down from a wheelchair to peg cloths is difficult so I have a tendancy to just throw them over the line, I THINK your product would make my job alot easier now my daughter and her 2 pre-schoolaged children have moved back home (all those little socks and undies!). NB Even I have tried to invent a user friendly peg for some years so I am greatly impressed by your product if it solves a never ending problem for me. (Kathleen)

Your Ezyline is fantastic works a treat for me, I have shown it to a lot of people and all were very impressed with it. (Barry, wheelchair bound)
Hi, think this is a great idea, as we are both elderly and suffer with severe arthritis your product would be of great assistance to us. Congrats on a great product. (Fiona)

We are all arthritis sufferers and the product looks ideal for that. (Serena)

If all goes well you have a captive market here - I live in an over 50's resort with a number of residents with arthritis (me included)! I can put a flyer up on our noticeboard if you would like to include one in my parcel. We have about 350 residents here rangeing in age from 50-90 odd who are always looking for ways to make life a little easier. (Bronwyn)

I have purchased two sets of 4 ezyline since 2009. Also a set was given to me by my sister after I suffered a stroke in 2009, leaving me permanently unable to use my left arm after the rest of my body recovered somewhat. The ezyline has been a god sent to me as I have always been a independent wife and mother. To be able to hang my washing and bring it in is fabulous thanks to this great product. Many thanks for making my life some what easier (Janette)

All Camping Supplies - Thornleigh

I am loathe to say that the ezyproducts blog hasn’t seen the light of day for months!  2012 is in full swing and summer (what summer, I’m only just starting to go to the beach!) is drawing to a close.  Here on the East Coast, Ezyline will be saying goodbye to daylight savings in a couple of weeks and soon it will be Easter, and Easter means camping for many, all across Australia!

When it comes to camping, there are many schools of thought as to what makes for a perfect getaway.  We want minimal stress and as much fun as possible (or relaxation if that's what you're after).  Do we take everything bar the kitchen sink, or just pack a few essentials and wing it?
Well, I came across a very comprehensive website a couple of months ago and have been lucky enough to chat with the man behind the mammoth manual of camping – Harry Cramer!   Harry has years of experience behind him and great typing skills!  I am going to take a leaf out of his book this year and show a bit more love to the ezyproducts blog.

I first contacted Harry and his wonderful wife, Ann about the possibility of stocking Ezyline at his All Camping Supplies shop at Thornleigh.  We were thrilled to hear that they would, and they do!  Enough boasting now... I want to share with you this little gem of gigantic proportions.  This is just the tip of the blog-berg...  take it away Harry!

There's a lot to be found on the www.allcamping.com.au website.  Harry has a hand-picked list of destinations for day trips and overnight adventures to week long and month long trips.  You will find a host of activities to enjoy from fishing, canoeing and platypus viewing to visiting award winning rain forest centres and railway museums.
Stuck on what tent will suit your needs, look no further.  At All Camping you will discover what tent to take and how to care for your tent, including the best ways to prevent mildew.  "DON’T USE SOAP ON YOUR TENT" Harry says, as they are wetting agents and could cause leakage.  Just water and a soft brush, Harry recommends - and I believe him, wouldn't you?

There’s a full camping check list that you can print out, tailor and use for your next camping trip.  Humble Harry admits he might not know it all, so there's a friendly reminder to add to your personalised list each time you go camping so you don’t forget any essentials for your next trip.  Harry knows his stuff, but he also wants you to know it, remember it and learn it too!  Thanks Harry, you're a champ!
There’s a list of kitchen equipment and a full list to do with tips on keeping food while you're camping out.  Harry's got information on Bio Magic Water Treatment, he's thought of everything, you can even find a great range of camping recipes on his site!

So, next time you want to know more and just about anything and everything about camping, visit Harry, Ann and the team down at Thornleigh All Camping Supplies – they'll have you covered from the bush to the beach and beyond!
And, All Camping Supplies are the only stockist of the amazing Rhine Back Pack, which has been tried and tested by Scouts & Guides over a number of years and also schools for the outdoor education programmes including the Duke of Edinburgh Programme, with Over 20,000 sold.  Quantity discount for groups

I am absolutely loving sharing with you on our social media pages, Ezyproducts blog and EzylineNoPegs facebook.  It's becoming a great expression of us and our brands' personalities.  We all get such a thrill from seeing everyone post online with photos and messages of praise from all over Australia.  Thank you Ezyliners who are joining our pages, we love listening to you!

Our posts, articles and promotions which reach you are a direct result of hours of Ezyline family summits, held throughout the day at the home office in Gordon, NSW.  Organic discussions in our little suburban wonderland centre around Ezyline and Ezyclip promotions, our website (which keeps getting more exciting and edifying, thanks Girling Design in Melbourne), ideas for new and exciting video clips, getting Ezyline into retail, overseas export and the list goes on!  We've got hundreds of birds in the backyard and our company mascot Banjo keeping us company.  As a family owned and operated small business giving something we love and believe in our very best, we live and breathe Ezyline, we even dream about it!

Time to pause and reflect

Hang on!
How many times do we hear that? The last time I heard those three words was this morning waiting at the Watson Street Bus Stop as I observed the morning commute. A late arrival was racing towards the bus with her laptop clutched under one arm, and the other waving the 144 down before it roared down Military Road.
I wondered... what had she been doing this morning to have to run the bus down like that?  As I sat there in the morning sun, I thought quietly to myself that this bus chaser (and let’s face it, we’ve all been there) could be running late for so many reasons.  She might have remembered at the last minute that she needed to take out the garbage (Tuesday is garbage day in this area of Neutral Bay) or maybe she decided to hurriedly pack a lunch instead of paying $15 for a sandwich and a drink… or maybe she was waiting for her elderly neighbours to move out of the doorway before she could dash out to another day at the office.

The thought of these everyday things which we all try to achieve whilst the seconds tick by and we find ourselves running late for engagements, made me think how glad I was that there is one area of my life where I can always make more time for myself –and that’s using my Ezyline. I simply love the extra time it gives me. Instead of spending double the time with pegs, Ezyline lets me hang my clothes quick and bring them in fast (you might recognise that line from somewhere!).  I have more time to do the things I really love doing. Oh, and with Ezyline, hanging out my wash has become something I really love doing too!

Your own Business in a Box

Would you believe the popularity of Ezyline the pegless clothesline has grown by 600% in its' first year of advertising and internet sales?

In July 2011, Ezyline launched the Business in a Box resellers kit and now distributes over 1,000 Ezyline packs per month to those who enjoy the benefits of reselling this wonderful Australian product.

Contact Susie at info@ezyline.com.au and we can help you to start your own Ezyline Business in a Box!

Banjo - 100% DNA Alpine Dingo

Meet our beautiful Dingo Banjo, our company mascot.  He came to us from a breeder in Victoria, after his trip to Tokyo Zoo was cancelled.

Banjo loves cuddles, lying on his favourite chair in the sun and munching on chicken wings!  When he sees someone he loves, he greets them with a friendly aaggwwrrrollll hello!

Australia – the land of inventive genius

There’s a long list of amazing things which come to mind when I think of Australia, and what it is that makes living on this beautiful continent so special.

So, I decided to do a wee bit of research to discover some of those things which we all love.  I became excited to see a few of my favourite things are All-Australian inventions...

Vegemite, Ugg Boots, Eskys, Car Radios, Hills Hoist, Zinc Cream, Solar Hot Water, Feature Film,  Speedo Swimwear, Pre-Paid Postage, The Ute, Staysharp Knives, The Royal Flying Doctor Service, Round-the-World Airline Services and The Surf Life-Saving Reel which was originally invented at Bondi Beach by Lyster Ormsby, it has saved many thousands of lives on Australian Beaches.
